Here's a simple recipe for vanilla cake:

Ingredients:

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 large eggs

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch (23cm) cake pan.

  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

  3. Add the softened butter, milk, and vanilla extract to the bowl. Beat with an electric mixer on low speed until the ingredients are combined, then increase to medium speed and continue mixing for 2 minutes.

  4. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.

  5. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top with a spatula.

  6. Bake the cake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the centre comes out clean.

  7. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before removing it from the pan and placing it on a wire rack to cool completely.

You can serve the cake plain or frost it with your favourite frosting. Enjoy!
